The Manor Farm menagerie
Dave and I are very lucky to live at Manor Farm. We always say were in the middle of nowhere but close to everything.
At this odd time were going through, I thought I would tell you a bit about who lives here...
Its not Dave and I who are residents here, the most important one is Gertie our 14 year old Cairn Terrier. An excellent gardening assistant, good at digging holes ...ok not always where you want them, likes to sit on the weeds so you know where they are and good at burying bones in the garden, would this count as bone meal I ask myself.
The next 2 Percy and Petunia, our 4 year old peacock and pea hen. They look beautiful, I will get a photo with his feathers up. I was told you either have peacocks or a garden not both.
I love seeing them about, so cope with the fact their favourite food is young leaves especially Hosta's, they are good guards as they make a real racket if anybody's about they don't know.
Every day I feed the wild mallards that live on our pond. Each year they find hidden places to nest and if I'm lucky I get to see the chicks before they take them off to the pond
This year the first nest I've found is in the trough next to the barn, can you spot her? 14 eggs in her nest, gestation period 4 weeks. So fingers crossed it wont be long before they hatch.
The other residents at the moment are 25 ewes and 45 lambs. Nothing the lambs enjoy more than charging around in a gang. I spend hours watching them.
Not sure when I have time to garden!
